Every city should maintain one official puddle for ducks, complete with a little sign and a painted crossing nearby. Ducks already choose inconvenient places to gather, so giving them a designated splash zone would make urban life more orderly without asking the ducks to become orderly. The puddle could even get a tiny “closed for maintenance” notice during dry spells.
